My first mural(s)

Last month, I took a trip with my two friends to stay with them at their home in the Dominican Republic. It was a really great experience and probably the longest time I’ve had to properly rest and do nothing to try and recover from the stress of my old job and various other things. But what made it an outstanding and rewarding experience was the opportunity to help with painting a giant mural in the foyer of a new recording studio, and to design and paint a smaller one myself.

Projection of design
Tracing the design with pencil (and eating lunch on the scaffold)
Beginning the colours with the red from the wall

The main wall was designed by Lisette Justo Vaquez, and we all helped paint it. It was pretty hot and dirty work, but I enjoyed it so much I barely noticed the time pass.

The lift and scaffolding were both a little scary
The state of my clothes after lying on the scaffold to finish the tracing
Many colours

When the colours were finished, we went and outlines everything with oil-based art markers. At the same time, I started on my mural on the soundstage door.

Sat out a few hours to get my hair done
Projecting
Tapy tapy

I had chosen a very challenging style to try and paint on a wall, because everything needed to be perfect circles, straight parallel lines and sharp corners. So, a lot of tape, string and concentrating on the hand eye coordination like my life depended on it.

Freehanding it like a psycho
My design finished, ready for colours
Teamwork bby

We finished them both in one week, unbelievable how fast we got it done, and I’m so proud of the results! Dying to paint another wall now!
